Dr. Morrison joins the Center for Vein Restoration team after years of volunteer service and exemplary patient care.

The Center for Vein Restoration is excited to welcome Dr. Nick Morrison. Throughout his remarkable career, he has dedicated himself to advancing phlebology research as well as enhancing the lives of patients with venous disease.

Dr. Morrison’s experience includes impactful volunteer service and an innovative approach to vein care. He belongs to several prestigious phlebology organizations, including the American College of Phlebology and the American Venous Forum, and currently serves as the President of the International Union of Phlebology.

A Legacy of Service

In 1989, Dr. Nick Morrison founded the charitable organization Amigos de Salud. Amigos de Salud is committed to its mission of improving the vascular health of indigenous people in Central and South America.

Over the years, the group has done a lot of important work. In 2014, two doctors from a local foundation in Nicaragua screened over 1,000 patients who exhibited signs of chronic venous disease or displayed associated symptoms. Amigos de Salud diagnosed and treated 846 of these patients entirely free of cost.

Working with a like-minded team of Italian phlebologists, Dr. Morrison’s organization transported and assembled all the equipment necessary for a fully-functioning phlebotomy clinic and proceeded to treat all 846 patients over the course of six working days. The team performed color-duplex ultrasound studies, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy, preliminary saline flushes, endovenous laser ablation, laser assisted foam sclerotherapy, catheter directed foam sclerotherapy, ulcer debridement, compression therapy, and hook phlebotomies.

This 2014 trip reflects the work of the organization in general. Amigos de Salud has conducted similar volunteer events every year for decades.

A Comprehensive Approach

The success of Amigo de Salud’s Nicaraguan excursion owes much to Dr. Morrison’s approach to patient care. With nearly forty years of surgical experience, he has improved the lives of patients with innovative approaches to vascular treatment. In particular, he is a leader in managing venous disease through compression therapy, sclerotherapy, and thermal and chemical ablation.

The wide range of techniques that Dr. Morrison employs, and the sheer number of patients that he’s helped over the course of his career, show his commitment to personalized treatment. He is dedicated to delivering the best care to each and every patient he sees.

A Bright Future at the Center for Vein Restoration

Given Dr. Morrison’s distinguished career, we are excited to welcome him to our team at the Center for Vein Restoration. It’s difficult to find someone who shares our commitment to patient care, let alone someone who also meets our exacting standards for technical expertise. Dr Morrison checks both boxes. We look forward to working with him and developing new standards for excellence in treating venous disease.
